Nice pics Franz-Peter :-)

Welcome to Farm Photo.

What type of crop is being sown with the Amazone rig in the first picture?

Best wishes from Australia,

The Cowboy ;-)

Re: Claas Xerion and Amazone Avant drill combination
to be honest i did not thinck about that, but what is the point in aplicating fert at the same time as drilling, why no just spead it after drilling, this way you do not need as such big tractor and saves fuel as less power is needed? on the other hand, more time taken if you do that i suppose :-) always two sides to a story!

Ben, 99% of farmers here in Tasmania apply fertilizer at sowing with the majority of crops that are grown, esp cereals, poppies & vining peas.

Re: Claas Xerion and Amazone Avant drill combination
Yes but if you read back a few years ago in the UK, combine drilling was quite common practice, seed & fert drills were very popular, so as most things do, things change & move in cycles I guess ;)

I have alot of Power Farming magazines from the 1980's & I would have said it was throughout the UK, I dont reckon the machinery manufacturers would build machines for just one area.

Looking athe Vaderstad Rapid brochure now available, the virtues of combine drilling are listed, so it must be still popular in other parts of the world too ;)
