Re: opening field
It's actually a 7500 but much the same. We bought it a new model, before we saw them. The first year we had some issues with the four wheel drive and they put the wrong rear engine plate on so the balancer wore thru. John Deere was helpful and gave us a free year of extra warranty. The last three years have been great. What part of the world do you work in?

Re: opening field
work in europe, holland mostly. 7000 series are almost all 7400 and 7500`s. we have only two 7700`s. thatone had some more difficultys than the 74/7500. do you have your own mechanics??

Re: opening field
We do most of our own work, except warranty and when special diagnostic instruments are needed. We find them very well designed to be easy to work on.

Re: opening field
and, in grass harvest, do you equip your harvester with a power shute?

Re: opening field
The feed rolls hinge to open and if we want to take the cutterhead off we let it fastened to a head. We don't use a power chute. we thought about it when we just had 6000 series but in the 7000 we have no problem even in the stickiest alfalfa and our 6850 the chute is redesigned from original

Re: opening field
we also make our own shutes for the 6000 series and the 7000 also. we make the top shute higher than original. so we take the cover which is mounted on the blower of and set in our own shute. this way the opening is 10-15 cm higher so the gras is not brakedbetween cutterhead and blower. it really makes a difference!!
