Re: pumpkins
for what they will be used this pumpkins, i asking that because in my part of croatia many people seeds pumpkins and are used for oil production. but this pumpkins have seeds don't have a shell so we say they are "naked". the profit is about twice bigger then on corn or wheat.

Re: pumpkins
They are a different type of pumpkin than we grow over here; these looks like your "halloween" type pumpkin, where we tend to grow green / gery pumpkins in Tasmania.

Ours are just grown for the fresh market (supermarkets, fruit & veg markets, etc).

Re: pumpkins
These pumpkins are indeed mostly used for halloween decorations but also for pumpkin pie.

Re: pumpkins
Ok thanks. Farmers here in Tasmania mostly grow the varieties Sweet Grey & Japanese.

Re: pumpkins
I grow a little patch of land of "hokkaido" pumpkins every year, to sell them at a fair which is held every year called "bundevijada" or in english "Pumpkin day".

The host of this manifestation is well known Croatian boxer Zeljko Mavrovic who has left boxing, and went to a village near mine to grow healthy food in an ecological way. No artificcial fertiliser, or spraying with chemicals, just natural things...

I went in offtopic, but i thought this should be said...

Re: pumpkins
in Belgium pumpkins are only grown in the vegetable garden, sometimes you see a whole field, but I think the chance that you see one is very small

Re: pumpkins
this photo is from my previous post, this is austrian oil sort gleisdorfer, it gives up to 700 kg dry semen pro hectar, and price is between 1,1 to 1,4 €. it is very modest plant, expenses is max. 300 € pro h. only is dangerous if came ice, because ice destroy it completely.only one hole is enough that water came inside and then it decay (putrefy).
