The 8640 was in Ontario, the 8850 was by Stamm Equipment in Michigan USA.

okay,but the 8850 had original a V8 from JD.
a few had problems and Kinze put a N14 Cummins inline 6 in there.

I hellped a guy put a cummins 855 into a JD 8850, What a pain in the A$$! Even though the displacment of the JD was bigger the Dimentions of that cummins were huge over the JD. We had to mount the radiator forward because the cummins was about a good foot longer. If not more.
PS: when we had the two engines out we weighed them, the Cummins was about 150- 200 pounds heavier.;-)

jdeere: ya i am located in the northern part of Ontario about 650km hours straight north of Toronto on the Quebec border, about two hours from the city of Sudbury i anybody knows where that is.
