Re: DX 160
Nice pics JD :-)

You dont see these around anymore over here (the stak movers). There used to be a few of the bigger graziers who used the Stakhand system back in the late 1970's / early 1980's but they have all moved to round bales or precision chop silage.

Re: DX 160
Ok :-)

I knew of one farmer here who was still using the system as late as 1993 but I think he changed over to rolls shortly after.

I guess over here getting spare parts would be an issue.

Re: DX 160
would be in CN too,but sure was a nice setup in the 70's as long you had your land all together.
only long hay was save to move without loss.

Re: DX 160
I only saw it used for hay here (grass hay & lucerne / alfalfa hay) but have read about & seen pictures of it being used with straw in the USA

Re: DX 160
this farm made straw stacks too,but they had to unload them with the stacker at home.
they tried to move them but the stacks fell apart.

Re: DX 160
Nice pics jdeere! Nice to see a C-65 Chevy working. There are a lot of them still at work hauling grain in our area. Chevy must of been his brand as I see a couple of Chevy pickups in the pics also. The first looks to be a 1967-1972 era (3/4 or 1 ton) and the second a 1973-1980 :-)era.

Re: DX 160
More interesting photos JD :-)

I could imagine how straw would be a difficult thing to put into a stakhand (it can be hard enough to put into a round baler at times, LOL :-)
