Two MX270's working in Arkansas.
These are my MX270's pulling field cultivators and crumblers
in Arkansas 2003. We are trying to fill in ruts from last
years soybean harvest. We'll work this field twice like this
and plant rice in a couple weeks. Normally I would no-till
fields like this but last years wet fall put a stop to that
:-D.

Re: Two MX270's working in Arkansas.
Hello Russel
I see yopu grow rice too. I wonder you first plant soy bean
and after you grow rice or only one every year. We can not
have two kind of plants followingly in my country. I also
want to learn how much rice you get from a hectare or an
acre? This year we got 7250kg/ha. Baldo rice. Do you grow
Baldo?

kivanc,

We can only grow one crop/year. My yields are usually around
162bu/ac dry or if my conversions are correct 8170kg/ha. I
grew Wells and Cocodrie rice last year and will also have
some Francis this year.

Here are some pics of my rice harvest.

Re: Two MX270's working in Arkansas.
Hello Russel
I saw your photos. They are really very nice. I see you use
tires on your harvester. In my country we use 1ron tracks
covered with a thin rubber. I think you stop watering very
early. We stop watering just one week before the harvest and
than drain the water. Also 1 liked you wagoons. We dont have
big wagoons. The biggest I have is 6 tones. As it is muddy
we dont go in to the field. >The harvester comes next to the
road and fill in the wagoon. I wonder do you have any other
photos about the differnt stages of rice farming other than
harvest. For example seeding or applying chemicals or
fertilizers. A month later I will start seeding and then I
will send some rice photos. If you wish I can send you an
e-mail.
Thanks for your interest.
I hope we can saher our information about rice

Re: Two MX270's working in Arkansas.
I should start planting rice in about 2 weeks. I'm going to
make an effort to document the different stages of all my
crops this year. When I do I'll post them here at farmphoto.

When you get some pics of your rice I would love to see
them. Email is arrowheadfarms@mindspring.com What country
are you in?

Hello Russel
I am from Turkey. If I can photo my activities I will send

about rice whenever you wish. I admire the way you are
farming and I try to catch some points. Take good care

Beautifull tractors. Is that wheat or rye as a cover crop. A
test trial on rice was tryed here in Southern Ontario Canada
a few years ago. Didn't hear anything more. Excellent
pictures.

Take care

Re: Two MX270's working in Arkansas.
Agcofan,

I didn't plant any cover crop. All that vegetation is
volunteer winter weeds.

John,

I still run a 5288 and 5488 IH. I had an old 856 IH but it
burned last summer while relifting water.

Re: Two MX270's working in Arkansas.
Glad to hear your planting is about to be under way. We
have been planting rice for about a week and a half now. We
keep getting rain, so that just keeps pushing back planting.
I would say we are 70% through. We are going to have a
field with rice that has different maturity levels because
we are still leveling it. Once a good size area is through,
they'll plant, and wait for the next area to be leveled. I
noticed you use Brandt carts. We don't use them personally,
but I know a farmer who does. I would like to send you some
pictures of a Texas rice harvest when I can get some
pictures. Take care!

Re: Two MX270's working in Arkansas.
Where exactly are you at Russell? Im in the Newport area.
Not much rice up here yet. Ive seen about 20 acres with
levees already pulled. Near white river there is a lot of
corn in the ground. I figure we are gonna start as soon as
it dries up again. Not gonna plant as much rice this year.

Maybe when your daddy gets through working on his tractors
he can teach you how to spell and act like a grown man.
