Hog buildings
This my 1200 head finisher on the left and a 1200 head
nursery on the right. We added one ring to the finisher
bulk bins to make them hold 6 ton. I custom feed these hogs
on contract for a large farrow to finish operation in
Washington, Iowa.

Re: Hog buildings
Where the lagoons located to support these buildings? Or do
you handle waste some other way? We had an 800 head
finishing house at home. We had a gutter flush system to
clean the waste, and about a 2 acre lagoon to process the
liquid.

Re: Hog buildings
The finisher building has a pit underneath it and the
nursery has a scraper system that pushes the waste out a
pipe and in to a 45 foot square concrete lagoon that isn't
visible in this picture.

Re: Hog buildings
My brother had a 800 house finishing house with a pit. He
contracted with Cargill. He had to pump the pit, and spread
about every other week. He doesn't have the hog operation
any more. I can't say as I miss dealing with that part of
hogs.
