You can see a saw like this on youtube. Hope this link works. Pretty impressive anyway. Have to be pretty brave to fly with that saw dangling that close to power lines.

Especially as those high voltage lines will arc out within 3 metres! Very brave or very stupid, those guys who fly those jobs I think :-P

if the helicopter doesn't hit ground ( as normal) i thought they wouldn't have any danger, birds can also sit on the lines

Re: better than a ladder and chainsaw
I also wondered about getting to close to power lines and the results and trimming with a helicopter was something new to me and the power line they are trimming on is a major cross country line and I was told since that these lines are 2 way feed and they kill the line next to where the helicopter is working, for the day.

Re: better than a ladder and chainsaw
To my knowledge not even birds can sit on these high voltage ones. We had an accident a few years back with a harvester working under HV lines which actually arced out & tripped the local power station out.

The head linesman told me that they will arc out within 3 metres & there are no second chances with them, they will kill you (most likely frying you at the same time).

We often have power blackouts with swans or other big birds hitting them.
