Leyland 272 turbo
This is my uncles Leyland 272 Turbo, wich he uses for pig transporting. Its a bit rusty from standing outside, but I dont think he cares.:-( He is going to sell it now I think.

Re: Leyland 272 turbo
Another. The trailer he uses is big I think. Its nearly a wonder it can keep the front wheels on the ground when the trailer is full:-D

Re: Leyland 272 turbo
Isn't that a bit oversize trailor for that tractor??

I plan to make a similar trailor for my brother's bee transport, but this is way too big...

It is very nice tractor (i like it anyway!)
This has over 80hp now with turbo so i think trailer size is ok.

Re: Leyland 272 turbo
Looks big for a pig transporter; maybe he would be better off with a truck? ;-)

Re: Leyland 272 turbo
i think its only uesd to drive from the barn to the truck wich is waiting a the front gate from each farm.
the reason is some kind of health issiue about the trucks not to have on the farm wich drive to the butcher.

Re: Leyland 272 turbo
excacly, jdeere, its just for driving the pigs half a kilkometer away from the farm. and if something isn't the right size, its the tractor thats too little. the farm has about 750 sows.
internash: I dont know the price, but if you really want to buy I'll find out.:-)

Re: Leyland 272 turbo
So it´s forbidden by law for the truck to come to the farm?
Sounds like a lot of extra work but it kinda makes sense :-\
On the farm I work we haul the pigs to the slaughterhouse ourselves with a trailer that can load 78 fat pigs on 2 floors.
You have to wash the trailer before leaving the slaughterhouse.

Re: Leyland 272 turbo
Here all stock is carted to the abbatoir (slaughterhouse) on trucks. Some farmers have their own but alot use contractors, some of whom operate large semi trailers or b-doubles.

Re: Leyland 272 turbo
There arent alot of pigs raised here now Christoph. We are lucky to not have any infectious livestock diseases here either. The carriers do wash their trucks & trailers out thoroughly between jobs.

Re: Leyland 272 turbo
Its probably the heat in australia that kills all the bad things?
Here you must wash after every load sometimes if you need to move a lot of animals you can spend over 4 hours just washing the trailer about 10 times!
I think it is bad for the animals too because they spend all the transport time in a very wet trailer:-\
Christoph, I think it will cost too much to transport the leyland :-)
But i still like it!
Over here a tractor like that is expensive.
