Re: bull mother
Funny looking cow too, I dont like the top of the back it is kind of funny:-\
Anyway, I guess you choose this cow because it has no family, So you give it high quality bull "Stuff" (Maybey children are watching:-P) and then you get a good bull to keep for the other cows?
But you can not use it with the family (if it had family) of this cow because the bull is related.

This breeding is Complicated isnt it!

Re: bull mother
Nice photos Ivica. But don't take this personnel, I wouldn't raise any heifers from the second cow. (post ##384046 )How much milk does the first cow produce? She looks more like a beef cow to me. I know that the Simmental breed is bred for meat and milk. Do you cross some of them with red Holstein bulls?

Re: bull mother
ivica was translate exactly croatian frase (or name) "bikovska majka" that means the it's son's will be used for reproduction . in croatia we have Croatian Livestock Center which have documentation of all registered (and controled) dairy cow's so the best cow's is selected for production reproduction bull's. if cow calve the female you can do with it what you want, but if it is a male (bull) you must sale him Croatian Livestock Center (and for that you will obtain extra subvention). milk production control is once per month, but the other terms are also important (size, layout, udder etc..) NRLAD it's the same cow on the both photo's, and no it whe don't cross with the red holstein because is illegal by our law. most off our farmers have simemntal cow's because it's have better imunity , and longer production period and it's not so acquiring for minerals, vitamin's etc.. , in other case holstein male calves it's very hard to sell (and exploited cow's to).
