Reinforcing old plough shares
Here you can see old and worn old plough shares. It's hard to find new shares where I live for my plough (specific mount mechanism) and I decided I will reinforce, and plough with them for few more years... I reinforced them with old suspension leaf springs, so wearing will be minimum...

Fired up my old arch welder and started working...

"back" side of share welded.

"New" share compared to the old one...

Re: Reinforcing old plough shares
All three shares welded, and I also reinforced (welded) the bolts by which shares are mounted, because they were loose too...

Last one

This picture shows the share "knife" which is 4mm thick. I think I don't need to sharpen them, because here is wery light land and work is easy... If the plough won't go in land, i will sharpen them then.

I takes me 6 min. to take off all three shares from the plough, because of the specific mounting mechanism. On my other plough i have 3 bolts per share, and they rust easy, and are hard to unscrew...

nice to see, hope it will work!
I think your plowing depth has become a few inches more now :-P

Whitch make is the plow? Kvernland?

Re: Reinforcing old plough shares
Nooo, I would be the luckiest in the world if that plough was kverneland... It's a yugoslavian made LEMIND plough. Very old, but still in function. Look in my profile, and there you have some pictures of the plough...

I also think it will work... All I can do now is to wait and see...

Re: Reinforcing old plough shares
here the small ploughs are very cheap. 2 and 3 furrow reversable ploughs from well-known brands(kverneland, rumpstadt, lemken, rabewerk, kongskilde) are rusting away in the rain:-(

Re: Reinforcing old plough shares
Heh, over there you have no need for small machinery, niether will we in 100 years...

I would sell my mother for 3 furrow kverneland, but for now theese are only dreams, and i have to work with whatever i have...

I plan tu buy a new UZEL 3x10" plough if i buy more land, but when I come to that...

Re: Reinforcing old plough shares
how much costs such a UZEL plough, and is it reversable?
and how much does a old used kverneland wich you would like to have cost?

i'm a bit curious:-P

Re: Reinforcing old plough shares
I don't know the prices, I dodn't ask yet...

Kverneland is hard to find in Croatia, used even harder...

I will go to Serbia soon, and will ask there for prices, and then ask for prices over here and comparing prices and transport cost, I will get to the cheapest solution possibble...

The best solution would be to buy a used plough 3x10 and invest in new shares and mouldboards...

No, UZEL is not reversible, because my tractor doesn't have external hydraulic outlets, ans I don't need them at all. Over here we have small pieces of land, and working with reversible ploughs would be slower than using normal ploughs...
