Re: Ford 8970
@arjan - I have five tractors. It s normal for Croatian people to have many tractors and all maschinery , even if we are not farmers and just living on the cuntry most of us have a IMT tractor :-\

Re: Ford 8970
That's true!

I have a friend that works 12 acres of vineyard. He has 5 tractors also, and none of them is stronger than 50HP... He told me that he doesn't like changing implements, so he has one implement on each tractor, and just changes tractors...

I don't see the economy in that, but it's his will...

Re: Ford 8970
Nice machine! We have also a Blue Bird, ours is 5 meters, we only use a 150 HP John Deere for it, he can reach speeds from 9,5 kilometers. Our plates from the tooth need to be changed twice a year, because in our area we have lots of stones in the field.

Re: Ford 8970
you must be mad, telling that ford can't handle the cultivator without front weights:-\ .here friends of me drive with a case mx120 tractor, without front weigts, with a heavier cultivator from 5m,and they reach speeds up to 10km/h.the soil here is already heavy.

Re: Ford 8970
@Michiel Jakobs - Exelent photo , what is that yellow thing on the Blue Bird ant for what you are using it ? My Ford is 240 PS maschine it is a beast , very strong , but can not pull Rabe Bluebird in 9 gear . Nineth gear would give me speed of 9,5 kilometers . Fastest i ever worked was 8 gear with full throttle about 8,4 kilometers.

@de robain - I am not mad or liar , everything i post is true . Ford 8970 can only lift and very slowly drive with Rabe Blue Bird without my front weight. I will never go on the street in that condition or on the field to work , never .

Re: Ford 8970
@Bobo - I belive that , for many Croatian farmers tractor is substitute for car . They go in the store with tractor to buy bear and cigarettes 200 meters far from their home :-D

Re: Ford 8970
@Michael Jakobs - I am not saying that my Ford 8970 must have 2 tonnes weight to operate i am only saying that without front weight it can not work with Blue Bird . You would have to work about 100 hectares on my land to find one stone , no stones at all here , only hard land :-) . My Blue bird is three years old and got original tooth on it , no need for replacement for next 3 years . I work with it about 60 hectares pro year .

Re: Ford 8970
The yellow thing on the Blue Bird is used for seeding Ramanas. We seed that after the grain harvest and on our harvested maize fields. On the photo it was not running, there were potatoes on this field, so you can guess how that turned out with all those stones! :-P Each 10 potatoes was for 3 stones :-P

Re: Ford 8970
@Michael Jakobs - English to Croatian translator do not know what Ramanas is and me to :-\ I guess it is used just for "green fertilization" ? After Ramanas is grown you just plough it down , yes ?

Re: Ford 8970
we have some haevy fields here in CH too,but down your way its even worse.
up north in northern Germany,Holland and Danmark the soil contains a lot of sand wich needs less HP.

Re: Ford 8970
This tractor iz 170 PS and with four furrow plough ( 35 cm pro furrow ) it can not go over 3,5 kilometers per hour - never . I plough this field just for some slow fun it was one time only with Torpedo because it is soooo sloooow . Ford 8970 on this same field can not go over 6 km/h with same four furrow plough but 40 cm pro furrow.

Re: Ford 8970
Intresting pics. We seems to have the same type of soil - hard clay that needs a lot of horsepowers to be worked. We also have lighter soils, and I can assure - they who just work with light soils can not understand how though really heva clay can be!
