Omer Puynen
If you ever want to see a very fast maize-chopping team, a visit to contractor Puynen from Beveren-Waas, East Flanders can be very convincing.

Re: Omer Puynen
Oh and watch this! When harvesting the last few rows, the operator already lifts the outer wings of the head to save time.
The only thing that rests is pulling the chute down, and then immediately to the next field!
Never seen that before..
When these men say 'time-wasting' when their boss is nearby, I guess he wants them to clean their mouth with soap!

Re: Omer Puynen

Re: Omer Puynen
Why do he the backward driving? Couldn't the chopper blow the hole way over the cabin?

Re: Omer Puynen
if you blow over the cabin you lose some more maize.
And also, if you drive backwards you can make 90 degree turn easier;-)
it's also some kind of habit i guess, in our area everyone does it this way, in belgium for example almost everyone blows over the cabin

Re: Omer Puynen
It is more difficult, we used to do it in some parts of Australia, after a bit of practice it is OK. But different people solve the same problem in different ways. Some fill with the trailer to the left of the chopper, some to the right, some drive behind the chopper some reverse, what ever makes you happy
