Re: rabe albatros

Re: rabe albatros
I do not know TasCowboy , did not get the answer from ivica yet. I have that same Rabe Albatros four furrow plough and just saying to ivica how the plough can not handle our hard land .My plough broke down like 10 times in three years - Rabe have very "soft" steel for our condition :-(

Re: rabe albatros
Do you have heavy clay soils Ratarko?

One would think that being built in Germany it would be a tough piece of gear, made for all conditions?

Re: rabe albatros
Hi Tas and Ratarko: In Sweden we often have heavy stones in our har clay, not many but there are som who we don't mowe. Thus we need to have auto reset rock release. You can se many makes of ploughs in Sweden, but Kverneland and Överum dominates in our area, and especially if you have hard clay.

Re: rabe albatros
Sorry but i do not know how to name my type of soil , i guess it is heavy clay . I have one question for you , can i take and repost that first photo of Rabe plough ivica sent , i would like to circle the places on plough where it is weak , is that allowed or is it steeling ?

Re: rabe albatros
that's allowed, just say that it it ivica's photo you used.

mostly, if you say who's photo it is, it's allright;-)

Re: rabe albatros
Hey Tas,

thanks for the appreciation of german craftmanship.
We consider Rabe one of the heavier brands. But they offer different strength. Lighter for lighter soils and heavier for heavy soils. So you can choose to best fit your needs tractors and soils.

Re: rabe albatros
This is photo from ivica .
It was sent earlier in this same thread by ivica i am just using it to show where are the week spots on this plough. I circle in red colour pleaces where my Rabe plough is weak . The steel is just to hard and breakes , steel do not have any spring like effect in it . The same thing happend with my Rabe BlueBird cultivator . I am a bit disappointed with Rabe but i will live through this :-\

Re: rabe albatros
I don't think it is wise with this type of plough body with finger mouldboards in hard clay. If you look at Kvernelands homepage under *Features > *Plough bodies you find some information of which plough body to be used in different soils. www.kvernerland.com

Re: rabe albatros
Eh , Lennart , i learned this the hard way after paying 23.000 € for my Rabe plough , i know now . Problem in Croatia is unique. You can not see plough you buying in the real world , just in cataloue or in pictures. Rabe dealer did not have any plough to look at . When you buy it you can see it , their moto .

Re: rabe albatros
It is a pity that you have this situation. Here we never buy anything without seeing it, but sometimes we have to travel a bit. Hopefully you can get the information from us here at Farmphoto in the future!

Re: rabe albatros
Thanks guys :-) great to see some more interesting & informative discussion! Keep it up :-D

The majority of our ploughs here are fitted with automatic reset, as we have quite a few stones too. Kverneland would be the most popular brand, followed way back in second place by Overum.

Martin, I would think it was a universally acknowledged fact that the German's are master craftsman, in many things, especially farm equipment (IE Claas, Deutz, Fendt, Rabewerk, Amazone, Mengele, Lemken etc) :-)

Regards,

The Cowboy ;-)

Re: rabe albatros
Lennart , i think you will call me stupid after reading this and you have right to do it. I order a new MF 7495 tractor for myself . I never seen this tractor i never touch it and a demo maschine is a totaly unknown term here . I do not need to tell you that this tractor cost over 100.000 euros ! I order it from my home , never saw this tractor , on 28.11.2006. It will arive in week or two , and then i will see tractor like this for the first time . Well would you do the same thing , i think not , if i can help it neither would i :-(

Re: rabe albatros
Things are obviously done differently in your country Ratarko, so no one will call you stupid.

Being a Massey, I think you will be pleased ;-)

Re: rabe albatros
Well i did not mean stupid in a very bad way , just a little bit stupid ;-)
Yes , we have some different conditions here and that is the main reason why i post here and why i read all the other posts to learn and to better myself and my farming work . If some of you can learn something from me even better.

Re: rabe albatros
Yes that is one of the great things about an international site like this one; learning about agriculture in other countries & seeing images of tractors, machines, crops & livestock from around the world is very interesting :-D

Re: rabe albatros
Maybe not stupid but a bit crazy...:-P

We have tested a MF 7480 and was quite satisfied with it, but we did a thought that we got more for the money with the JD 6920S (compared to the 7490 our saler offered). The JD has Autopowr.

I think you will be very satisfied with your MF. It is a dream to drive a tractor with a modern gearbox, and a luxury cab!
