Another. Plenty of dust, as the day was 30 C & the crop had been sprayed with Reglone to dry it out.

Re: White Clover Harvesting
A friend used to raise white clover seed here in our area. It was quite risky, and the yield varied from 200 - 800 kg/hectar. What is the conditions down under at your area?

Re: White Clover Harvesting
Yes, it can be a bit risky but generally growers get good returns. Yields range from 300 kg / ha to about 1 tonne per ha. Farmers keep the crop for a second year but dont harvest it for seed (just use it for grazing; it is very good for finishing lambs on).

Re: White Clover Harvesting
Here they have spray the crop so it turns down, and thus it's not possible to keep it a second year.

Re: White Clover Harvesting
Some do a second year harvest hear but generally the clover is too dense / thick, so doesnt yield as well.

Re: White Clover Harvesting
Is there any real reason why this combine have rear wheel so big and they are wrong side mounted ( hope you know what i mean , do not know how to explain ) ? The rear tyres looks like they are even wider mounted on the axle then the front ones but maybe I am wrong about that :-[

Re: White Clover Harvesting
Not sure why. I know that the guy who owns the machine now purchased it from a contractor who does rice on mainland Australia, so maybe he used the big tryes for rice?

Re: White Clover Harvesting
Ok , another new thing to me .
Rice on Australia , how ???
I think rice is groving in water and Australia is dry county mostly , ha ?

Re: White Clover Harvesting
The big tyres can depend on the rice, it can also be a 4WD axle in the back, but then the tyres should have been in the right direction. Tyres turned in th ewrong way will not be worn out so fast, especially when it is a non-driven axle!

Re: White Clover Harvesting
Australia is a big place Ratarko, not all dry my friend LOL :-D

There is actually quite a large Croatian community in Sydney or Melbourne too :-)

Lennart, this machine might well have RWA (Rear wheel assist), not entirely sure.
