lennart 390931 414 Our farm either
Our farm
This thread will show pics from this years farming. I will be glad if you will give your opinion if I shall go on in one thread or if it's better to start new treads each time I've got new photos?

First photo two weeks old, we got a snow storm and the snow depth varied from 0 to over one meter!

Re: Our farm 2007
This time of the year the work is concentrated to the cows and their calves. This year we have 65 cows who shall calve. All pure breed Charolais. Last week we sold 6 bulls as livestock to other farmers.

Re: Our farm 2007
Today I made a special work. Our local riding school had problems with the ground in their inside manege, it was to hard and their harrow is to weak. I took the Vaderstad sedbed cultivator, used only the center section, and there was no problem to make the ground less hard.

Re: Our farm 2007
A close pic of the Väderstad seedbed cultivator, it is a NZF type, 4 axles, 5,7 meters wide and 72 tines. New on farm 1986. This days not used so much because of the Rapid seeder.

Today I also delivered some straw small bales to a horse owner. Her husband helped me, and this is how happy a non farmer is when he are allowed to drive a tractor!

Re: Our farm 2007
On the way back we took their manure (=95% straw). The trailer is an old Scania rear end from the 60's. Strong and cheap trailer but nothing for the fields.

Re: Our farm 2007
We also do some work in the wood. 2005 we were hit by the hurricane "Gudrun". 50% of the standing volume, ca 1/3 of the acerage fell down. This january the stom "Per" caused further trees falling down, but this time just a few and spread out over the whole area.

Re: Our farm 2007
@Lennart - Your JD 3650 is in good condition also , how many working hours have he got and second thing is it normal for yours type of soil for the cultivator to not have a roller at the back ?
I guess you are a JD lover and in my opinion that poor MF 7480 demo did not have any chance to stay with you ;-)

Re: Our farm 2007
Thanks all!

Our JD 3650 were bought new to a farm 250 km north of us in 1990. We bought it from this farmer in 2001 with 2.250 hours on the meter - it looked 100% as new - this farmer were a pedant to the look, but just 500 hours later the clutch were worn out!

Now the tractormeter stands at 4.800 hours.

Last year at service the PTO-power were measured to 115 hp.

In Sweden we used to have this finger tines at the back if the soil were hard or if you got a lot of stones!

Ratarko: We are not JD-lovers, even if we got 3, and we like them a lot, but one major advantage is that the JD dealer is situated between our two farms, and the dealer leaves good service! As you can see in earlier threads we have also a Case 844 and a Valmet 2005, a CAT telehandler and NH combine!

Re: Our farm 2007
This picture is from end of january. We got some hard clay that we didn't manage to plough in autum due to the rainy wether. We had to plough it when the soil just had froozen. It is very unusual that we work on the fields when it has come snow!:-\;-)

Re: Our farm 2007
we've also problems with ploughing. Usual we plough when the ground is frozen all over, but in this winter we've got only 2 ploughable days. And it doesn't seems like there will be any frost the rest of this winter. The weeds already germinate. This winter, here in holland, isn't worth a snap of the fingers

Re: Our farm 2007
We normally try to plough before winter because after 2-3 days with temperature below zero the ground gets froozen all plough depth and then it's impossible to plough!

Re: Our farm 2007
we like to plough in autumn, because the winter can freeze over it after ploughing. But we mostly need our time to harvest in autumn, so sometimes we have no choice. When it is frozen really hard, we stop ploughing. It takes quite a lot from the machinery, we've had a broken tie rod, damaged front wheel drive, and lost a furrow. That was 3 winters ago, when the ground was too hard.

Re: Our farm 2007
hey Lennart

Verry beautyfull pics en intresting that you run te combination between forestry and an farm, a read somewhere that it is a verry common combination in the Scandinavian country's. For Holland it's a little onusual ;-).

Re: Our farm 2007
Another pic of the JD 6920 and trailer (or shall it be hauler?).

Amaud: Yes, you are right about he combination farming and forrest, 50% of Swedish forrest are owned by privates, mostly farmers.

Our forrest work is the small part of our company, we have 25 hectars of forrest.
