Curious calves
Only a few days old and already curious! :-)

Re: Curious calves
Another curious calf. This one is special due to the colour and the brown nose. It's not common with any colour alternations than white in Sweden on Charolais!

Re: Curious calves
Lovely pics. Really nice. Reminds me of the days when I still had to care for calves. :-)

Re: Curious calves
A group of calves locked out in their hide-outs. Working with the calves makes me happy! :-)

Re: Curious calves
Cute, what do you mean by "locked out," I take it they still have access to their mothers?

Calving for us won't start until the end of April, beginning of May, when the weather is decent.

Re: Curious calves
Normally they have access to their mothers, but here we are mucking out, se my tread "Our farm 2007", and then we lock them out, we can also use this if we shall do something with the calves!

We have the majority of calving in february to first half of april. In end of april we let the cows with the oldest calves out, and the rest in beginning of may. We want the calves to be at least 14 days before we let them go out.

Re: Curious calves
To mark jongejan: My uncle had cows and I ran his farm for three years because he was ill.
Then it came out that he would not ever be able to run his farm any more and so the cows were sold. :-(
I really liked to work with them and I shall have same cattle (Highlands or similar) again on my Hobby farm.

MB trac 1800: Here we talk about beef cattle, not long haired huligans....;-)

Just joking, hope you will get your cattle soon, and to have much joy of them! One thing is better with Highlands, they are phenomenal to live on nothing and to keep nature pastures tidy!

Re: Curious calves
Hi Lennart, you can be sure, I'm able to distinguish Charlies from Highlands :-). I want some cattle for real men and not your petting zoo. :-D
