Re: Hurlimann con seminatrice Sfoggia
Thanks jd. I thought it's maybe 80 or 90 HP. Because the Lamborghini GP was made also with these engines. Thanks in any case :-)

Re: Hurlimann con seminatrice Sfoggia
no problem,i guess now they all have the water cooled SLH or some models also a water cooled Deutz engine.
finally they figured out too, that a water cooled engine lastes longer.:-[

Re: Hurlimann con seminatrice Sfoggia
Yes , I know at the Lamborghini use only SLH engines to 130 HP and above 130 HP only Deutz engines. Exception the new R3. EVO with 85 and 130 Hp and Deutz engines.

TC,you thinking about the rocks?
small rocks like these are no problem, the have a good thing too, help warm up the soil,a major thing for corn in spring when nights are still cold.

Re: Hurlimann con seminatrice Sfoggia
No JD, just commenting on the poster's flag (Jamaica); the Cricket World Cup is currently taking place in the West Indies :-)

If I were him, I would be at the cricket rather than out drilling maize :-P

Re: Hurlimann con seminatrice Sfoggia
@jdeere: I wouldn´t generalize about air-cooled engines. An engine that lasts longer than a Deutz F6L912 has still to be designed:-D (at least under our conditions, I guess that changes when it gets really hot and dusty).
I.e. some guy I know has got 2 Deutz D8006, one with 19000 hours and one with 27000 hours. The older one only recently got new liners and
piston rings for the first time despite the engine being turned up a bit. Both tractors work 160 hectares of grass- and arable land every year for feeding 120 dairy cows and an equally big herd of beef cattle;-)

Re: Hurlimann con seminatrice Sfoggia
Einachser,i do agree in a way but if you really make those air-cooled engines work hard, they wont last.
about 20 years ago,Deutz sold some tractors in CN,but if they had to drive a silage chopper or pull a disc or cultivator, they never lastet to long.
would not start in cold weather any more and loose power.
some farmers power grain rollers w/o anyone on the seat and overheatet watercooled engines in there tractors, but thought that would not happend to the air-cooled one.
in dusty conditions the also did not made it,the found out just later. :-\

Re: Hurlimann con seminatrice Sfoggia
The best air-cooled engine is probably from Deutz. It's the most economical engine with fuel. If you press them to their limit they will be worn out faster, but a watercooled engine too... And revising an air cooled deutz engine is very easy and the costs are very low. But I think the new water-cooled deutz engines are better in lasting longer, because if they can make an air-cooled engine last that long. A water-colled will sure last that long:-P And yes for in desert a water-cooled engine is much faster overheated
And 20 years ago Deutz as well as IH had some problems with the pistons of Mahle(Mahle is one of the three deliverers of pistons for Deutz).. The rings on the pistons could break early. They quickly changed it. But the major problem with the DX series were the trannies from Steyr :-\ We had a DX 110 who had already transmissionproblems on 2500 hours. The ZF trannies last a lot longer...

Re: Hurlimann con seminatrice Sfoggia
@jdeere: You´re right. I guess Deutz-tractors in Europe are seldom subjected to that kind of work, where they have to provide their full power non-stop and I can see how it would be risky to leave them alone while doing this. I have overheated Deutz engines too but then you just need to go easy on them for a few minutes and clean the outside of the cylinders.

@Schizo: As far as I know there where no Steyr-trannies used in the DX 110, only in DX 140, DX 160 and DX 7.10. The DX 110 hat a Deutz-built transmission but I agree, they where not very good and the ZF-transmission as it was used in D 8006-D 13006 was much better. I heard that there where some improvements on the later models like the DX 6.10 but still...:-\
Interesting to hear that stuff about the pistons, I didn´t know that before:-)
