Re: D6C
Hey there Jdeere!! Nope, not a lot of plowing anymore here in the
north end of Wasco County....it's all going to no-till. That's why I
wanted to get some good shots .....before all the big plowing setups
are all gone. No till is the future....and it is way better in controlling
erosion....but still there is something about rolling that dirt over. :-\
Here the D6C heads off towards Mt Hood and a cherry orchard that
lies right next door. :-D

Re: D6C
Great pics John :-)

Is that plough a 10 furrow? I always think when I see your pictures how beautiful the back drop of Mount Hood is ;-)

Re: D6C
TasCowboy! Yup, 10 bottoms......in two units. A pair of fives hitched
together. :-D Hitches like this were quite common here back when
the bulk of the county was bottom plowed. We had a set of two
six bottom plows years ago at SRS Ranches .....this D6C would
easily pull that rig. Until the advent of the "broken back" plows it
was the only way to go here.....anything over 7 or 8 bottoms would
bridge too much in the low spots, and go too deep going over a small
ridge.

Re: D6C
And yeah....it's hard to go wrong with a backdrop like Mt Hood. :-)
It's like the old joke about giving a monkey a typewriter.....let him
bang away at the keys and sonner or later he will put out a novel
for ya. ;-)
