Re: Triticale
There wasn´t a lot of progress in the last week because it hasn´t rained for several weeks now.

Re: Triticale
Indeed, we all need WATER! All the crops need it, even the grass.

Re: Triticale
waarom hebben we water nodig? als er een groot deel verdroogt zou alles teminste weer es aan prijs staan. Hoe extremer de seizoenen hoe meer de boeren er aan verdienen

Re: Triticale
It seems to be quite dry all over western Europe. The forecast says maybe rain in the end of the 10-day period but not sure. :-\

Re: Triticale
It seems to me rainfall was normally more spread over the year but this and last year it was more like 3-6 weeks with no drop of rain following 3-6 weeks with hardly a day without rain.
Last year there was hardly any rain from late may to july which did a lot of damage to crops in some areas (especially eastern germany) and in late july and august there was a lot of trouble with harvesting because of rain.

Re: Triticale
Similar to parts of Tasmania by the sounds of things (in a "normal" season).

Which part of Germany are you in Einachser?

Re: Triticale
I´m in the northwest, Lower Saxony, about 50 kilometers from the north sea.
When I looked up the average rainfall from the last years I saw that we had over 1800mm in 1990 and always between 1000 and 1500mm from 1991 to 1994.
I remember some very wet summers from my childhood, too:-D

Re: Triticale
Here on the west coast of Sweden we get between 750 and 1000 mm normal years. It's not common with much higher amounts, but for example 1996 we got only app. 500 mm. It seems like the average is increasing, but it can also be normal differences. I agree with Einachser that it seems more and more to be periods of wheather. We had nearly the same situation last year even if South Sweden got more harvesting trouble.

Averages here range from 450 mm through to 1100 mm. Where I am our average is approx 750 mm.
