Re: New tractor
Narrow tyres for spraying or row crop work?

Re: New tractor
The tyres are for spraying and spreading fertiliser later in the season when the crops are to tall for my usual tractor. The tractor never has any other wheels fitted, we use it for feeding cattle in the winter so the narrow tyres dont matter.

Re: New tractor
Ok,

Some of the guys here have the narrow wheels for the same reason but use clip on duals, so that they can do other field work as well when the tractor isnt spraying or spreading.

Looks like a nice tractor ;-)

Re: New tractor
Yeah it seems to be nice so far only got 20 hours on it so far.
We have 7 other tractors to choose from so its ok having this one on narrow tyres. With it being a stock farm as well it means there are always jobs to do were the tyres arent so important. ( Bedding machine, feeder wagon, tedding silage and other lighter tasks)

Re: New tractor
That makes it easier for you then doesnt it. Most of the guys here only have 1-2 main tractors, so try to get the most of of them.

Re: New tractor
Yeah its good not having to change wheels about. Most of the arable farms around here are the same with only 1-2 tractors. We seem to have the opposite problem, we get to much out of our tractors at times, this tractor has replaced a 5 and a half year old tractor which had 9000 hours on it. We also have a 4 year old with 7000 and a 5 year old with 7500

Re: New tractor
Wow, 7 other tractors to choose from and none with loaders? On a stock farm? I do recall you running the loaders & telehandlers, they must see a lot of use.

Thanks for the pics, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the unit. Would you mind grabbing some shots of the feeding as well? Your methods of feeding do not require wide tires, being around the yard and barns. If I were to use those tires for feeding in the spring there are times that I would exit the driveway into the field and be stuck before the processor was off dry land. :-[

That mower, are they very common over there? I don't see them much on the boards, but here discbines are very common, mainly with the roller conditioners.

Re: New tractor
Thats right none have loaders fitted, they do enough work without loaders.

The volvo loader does approx 1500 hours a year, the main handler approx 2500, second handler 2000 and the third 1500.

We're lucky when feeding as our feeder is never off concrete.

I will get some photos of the feeding next weekend as im off this weekend and hoping to be spraying most of next week.

Almost every mower over here is similar to ours, almost all of them have the metal/nylon fingers on the conditioner.
