Re: 6520 drilling
No worries :-)

Spring sown grass seed, thats interesting (we sow ours over here in autumn).

Re: 6520 drilling
The reason we sow it in the spring is because it is on land classed as set aside. We can sow it now and in september take a cut of silage from it.

Re: 6520 drilling
Ok. Most grasses we have here dont do well in the spring (they run straight to head), so thats why I asked the question ;-)

Re: 6520 drilling
We sometimes get that problem as well if we get a dry year. We do a third cut from some silage fields at the same time, this grass is usually very leafy, so we lift the fields alternatively to get a mix of grass in the pit. (Its only for young stock anyway)

Re: 6520 drilling
Most of the annual types will do it as well as some of the perennials (as you say, if it is a dry year especially).

Re: 6520 drilling
This looks like it good be a bad year for it happening over here.
last year was pretty bad as well, didnt get any rain after first cut so second cut was a disaster, luckily we got rain just after second cut which gave us a huge 3rd cut to help balance the grass from the set aside
