Re: JD 7400 in cheshire
Thanks Nick for the photos on the rake. This 4 rotor rakes are sure big, we got some farmers who have bought theese huge rakes, but here in Sweden milk producing farmers are so afraid of raking due to quality problems with the milk.

Re: JD 7400 in cheshire
cheers tas, it forecast rain for this week starting today so they just got it cut in time. i think most farmers up there are just getting a crop off before they plough for maize.

Re: JD 7400 in cheshire
hey lennart, in what way does the raking affect milk quality?

Re: JD 7400 in cheshire
If the grass are contamined by soil and clay the silage will cause sporulation in the milk. This hangs togheter with the risk of rain and that they often want quite wet silage (water 65-70%).

Sporulation in the milk causes decreased price for milk due to that our milk farmers in our area deliver their milk to a cheese diary.

But in the end I think it is just that the don't dare to test!
