April 24, 25, 26 we seeded 900 acres to alfalfa/grass blend and two separate fields of oats. These are pictures in the oats field.

This is a John Deere 9520T with a 50' concord air seeder and grain tank, also pulling an anhydrous tank.

Re: Air seeding spring 2007
Here you can see the Valmar unit on the hitch of the seeder, this is used for the small grains like alfalfa, or canola

Re: Air seeding spring 2007
Nice photos Nyhof! Did you guys just buy this tractor, or is this a contractor doing the work for you? How often do you generally have to improve the alfalfa stand and how many pounds per acre of alfalfa seed did you use?

Great photos :-), a very interesting thread.

How many hours per day were you seeding?

Regards,

TC.

Very intressting pic's. It is amazing what capacity you got - we are happy if we seed 60 acres in one day, but many fields here are not big enough to turn your "train" on!

Re: Air seeding spring 2007
Deere: This is a contractor, he has done our work for over 10 years. We seed some new fields to alfalfa every year and break them up after 4 years. This year we put on 13 pounds of seed per acre.
TC: They started at 7 in the morning and usually quit around midnight. One day there were some breakdowns, and we had to drive between 5 fields.
Lennart: Every country is different! Thats why this site is so interesting!

Re: Air seeding spring 2007
Some great shots there Nyhof, I thought it was a contractor, didn't think a dairy could justify a 9520T for just 900 acres. :-D

It seems you're very happy with him if you've been using him for so long, the only downside we've had with contractors is not being able to get in at just the right time due to them being so busy.

I've got some questions regarding the large squares, but I'll put that in over at your wrapping thread.

Re: Air seeding spring 2007
Josh: This year the contractor couldnt do any of his own due to being to wet, so he was able to put in all of ours first. He seeds for some other guys to and does alot of his own. He is selling out within the next couple years so we might have to hang a 40 footer off the back of the 930 ;-)
