Re: 4630
JD, in regards to the 1st picture, why would such a big tractor be sold without a cab or R.O.P.S.?

Re: 4630
this tractor has been sold in the 70's like that, but there are still some open station fans.
for some jobs why not,if its not to hot and dusty.
back then Deere wanted to sell a many as possible with cab and advised dealers to talk farmers into, buy with the SG-2. :-[

Re: 4630
jdeere - as I remember the SG2 cab came on the 40-series, the 30 series cab was just called Sound Gard. Correct me if i am wrong.

Re: 4630
the sg2 cab came on the 30 series in 1972 or 1973?

Re: 4630
I had to look in some old catalouges. For the US-made cabs was the name Sound Gard until 1982. From 1981 came the SG-2 cab on European 40-series, from 83 on the US made 50-series. As I understand the biggest difference is between US and European made cabes, more than the difference of names.
The first SG cab on US 30-series came 1972 and were a revolution. The noice level were lower than any other with 80 dB.
