I took these photos this morning while feeding the cows.

First job of the morning is to clean up the left over silage.

Then the pre-mix which contains, Molasses, soya, beet pulp, dark grains, rape meal, rolled wheat and minerals.

some of the sick cows are in small pens so its easier to put the mix into the bucket instead of using the wagon.

Tascowboy. Draff is whats left of the barley after its been used for making alchohol.

lots of leftover,what happends with it?
for the heifers or drycows?

Jdeere. The left overs go to the young heifers, there isnt usually that much left but the dairyman moved some cows out and forgot to tell us.

Tascowboy. Over here you can get the draff dried out and pelleted, this is usually called brewers grains. we use brewers grains in the premix about 20% of the premix is brewers grains

What time do you start your job. Is it your herd?

Krasus. I start at 4 30 am, no its not my herd I just work at the farm.

Do you work every day , or do you have day off?

Krasus. l work 12 days then 2 off, about half are 4.30 starts the rest 8.00. In the summer I dont do as many early starts.
