Re: Foal birth
Soon the mare stood up and examined the little one. We had a feeling that it soon should be, though the mare had milk on her legs this morning. We were prepared on a long night, now we can go to bed in normal time!:-)

Re: Foal birth
This morning started with a hungry foal!:-)

Thanks everybody for the appreciating words!:-D

This pony is mainly planned to be a riding horse, but if it developes well mayby he can live his life as stallion! We have five ponies before, from the smallest 120 cm to 2 new forest who are more than 140 cm, but 2 are "outsourced". Both our daughters are competing in show and field jumping.

@_SERCAN_: If you can't live after the Code of conduct and write so we understand please let it be! All those smileys don't say us a word!

Re: Foal birth
We decided to take the mare and the foal out on grass and first it seemed like the foal should go by himself....

Re: Foal birth
...but soon I had to carry him out to the pasture paddock. Luckily he don't weigh much more than 40 kgs.

Re: Foal birth
Out in the paddock he tried to explore the world, but the mare who is only 5 years old and got her first foal took her mother-role seriously!

Re: Foal birth
It is important that both the mare and the foal get convenient with us so we train a lot to handle the foal, here's my daughter with the foal and the mare doesn't bother!:-)

Re: Foal birth
....and when the mare stops he continues to run. He is named Hepstar after his father Heptan and the star on his head, and of cours eafter the Swedish pop group from the sixties with Benny Andersson, later ABBA...
