Re: Barley spring 2007
I dont have a farm personally Stark1, I work for a seed company as an agronomist.

We produce clover seed, lucerne seed, dry (combine) peas, linseed & Asian brassica seeds (Chinese cabbage, Chinese mustard, etc).

I used to be an agronomist in the poppy industry, a position I held for 11 seasons, hence I have alot of poppy photos :-)

Re: Barley spring 2007
Have you ever eaten poppy seed on bread or in cakes? Have you had an asprin? These two products come from the papaver sonniferum plant (the poppy).

I shall post a couple of threads of mine in a minute, to show you what the crop looks like :-)

Re: Barley spring 2007
No problems Stark :-)

The major producers in the world are Turkey, India, Australia (Tasmania is the only state of Aus licensed to grow poppies), France & Spain. There are also poppies grown in the UK & in parts of Eastern Europe + I think some in Holland too (maybe only for the seeds in some of these countries, not the pharmacuetical alkaloids).
