Farmers invade the town celebrating 700 years.
Today our hometown Halmstad started their 700 year celebration. One part of this is a farmer procession through city showing different stages of farming. As it was impossible to find any bulls or horses with farming tools the procession started with young riders and a nice horse wagon.

Closer pic of one of the vintage tractors - a Munktells BM 2 from late 1930's or early 40's. Muktells is the M in BM. This tractor has a 32 hp ignition bulb engine.

This is a rare old GMW tractor from the 50's. The GMW tractor is made in Sweden. It's a 45 hp gasoline tractor.

This is the old Volvo combine, I think it is a ST 257 from late 50's. Header 6 feet.

I didn't ever heard of the brand GMW. It's a Swedish made JD as i see.

Re: Farmers invade the town celebrating 700 years.
@Johan; I don't blame you - I tried to get some info on the web but I didn't find much. I have more in magazines but I don't have the time for the moment. I promise I will come back! I shall look after if it is a licenced JD or just a copy.

Re: Farmers invade the town celebrating 700 years.
GMW is not a licensed JD a I know. But very close to each other. The first GMW was produced in 1952 and it was made in the small city Älmhult in southern sweden. Älmhult is mostly famous from IKEA this is where that brand started to.

The first model of GMW was the 35, and so was also the power of it. it has a 2 cyl engine at 5.5 l. Pretty old cooling system without a waterpump.. In 1955 the model 25 and in 1960 the biggest model 45 and that was a 3 cyl engine.

The model 35 was one off the first tractors with safetycab.

The last sold tractor was a model D64 and it was sold in 1964.

I think I am almost correct about these

Great thread Lennart. Do you have some more pics of the Volvo combine?

Re: Farmers invade the town celebrating 700 years.
Thanks Stark1 for the info about the GMW tractors, I found out that they manufactured 434 tractors. I know that the tractor pictured ain't a 25, but then it can be either a 35 or 45?

MB trac 1800; Thx, but I'm sorry - I have no more pictures for the moment, but it is not impossible that I sometime find a similar combine and take pictures of it!

Re: Farmers invade the town celebrating 700 years.
Thx Lennart. I didn't even know that Volvo was building combines so many years ago. So I would like to learn more about them.
