Little owl / Steenuil
Since this winter our dairy farm is visited by a couple of little owls. It is not easy to make a sharp photo, because they are very scared. I also dont know if they have made a nest, but they are just there all the time.

@Luc: Good photos. Here are a couple of frogmouth owls I saw recently while at an uncles farm. Ugly creatures, yet also very beautiful...

@MB Trac 1800: I will do my best to make a good photo of the owl. They are there every morning when I start milking the cows. But I forget to bring my camera with me in the morning and my eyes are only half open then.
In Holland, the little owl is becomming a rare bird, there are only 6000 left of them.
@Stu and Greg: I have never heard of the frogmouth owl, but its a beatiful ugly bird. I think we dont have this bird in Europe. By the way: I was in Pittsworh QLD some years ago, and that is also the location where the photo of the frogmouth owl was taken (thanks for geotagging).

@Luc, interesting to hear that you have been in this area. It's a long way from home for you!

Re: Little owl / Steenuil
We know these as Tawny Frogmouth owls or mo-pokes (this is the sound of their call)
