Re: WORST TRACTOR
Newholland TS 115, it was on my practice in Denmark.. he had a lot of problems with it. don't know what the problems were but it cost during the years a lot of money. Now he drives a fendt 512c, and is a sattisfied man again...

Btw we had a MF 3060 and drove with it for almost 17 years without any trouble.

Re: WORST TRACTOR
we had kinda much trouble with our jd 6400.
But then again, we got it for cheap and it was from a farmer that was very, very rude with his tractors:-\
For example, we had a problem with the 4wd, it stayed on. Replaced some stuff, worked fine for a day and then problemes again. Turned out to be a problem with the switch.

Re: WORST TRACTOR
JD 6300 was our biggest money pit ever. He needed a lot more than oil and fuel.:-\ In total around 23000 euros costs without maintenance.
And then the DX 110 with his gearbox troubles. The rest of the tractor was good. Costs in total; 10 000 euros
The rest of our tractors are/were satisfieing/very good with no costs above 10 000 euro's

Re: WORST TRACTOR
weve got a T160, ran a little 1000 hours yet. No problem had with it at all, i'm quite surprised about your story. It differs from one tractor to another.
We have also a JD 2650, known as a very solid and reliable tractor. I won't be surprised if we invested more in it than the new price was. And that has got only a 5000 hours yet.

Re: WORST TRACTOR
Andy, I agree with you totally. We've been saying that for years. They send the junk to Australia coz they know it's too far to send it back!:-\

Re: WORST TRACTOR
Very bad luck indeed. Even the best can fail sometimes.
So if europe and america send their junk to australia, does australia send their junk to europe or america? cause only america would be nice;-)

Re: WORST TRACTOR
to me is a mccormick xtx215 the worst tractor i drove.

done about 2000 hours on two tractors in almost 1,5 year(first xtx is changed at 600 hours), the second one has still very much problems.

the first had problem with the gearbox and many electronical problems.
the second has problems with the engine and also with the electronics.

would be very happy if the tractor is changed for something else. brand doesn't matter to me, i just need a tractor that does his work without problems....

One of the first series? 1500 hours isn't much. If you return it, you get a lot of your money back. Maybe that's the best if it's such a pain in the ass

Re: WORST TRACTOR
the biggest money pits that we have had were a 1978 Fendt 108 with front hitch and PTO. This one needed a set of new clutch plates once a year and that was conservative. This was due to that the front PTO came out of the side of the transmission (old style). The other was a 1998 Valmet 8550 with a lot transmission problems. 2 major failures 350 hours apart (1800 and 2150) from each other. The first time was a little over $20.000 the second was even more since they dropped a new transmission underneath it. This due to the extend of damage which included the Powershift housing with all it internals. What we have heard after we sold this tractor was that this was a problem child from the beginning (we bought it used). The new Valtra's (3 at 1785, 1200, and 335 hrs.) till now just small electronic problems (airco, radio, DPS bottons)

Schizo, jdeere.
this tractor is uded for light dutys only front end loader work etc. We do hook it up to a 40 ft. tyre roller now and then and for swathing barley. Those last two jobs usually result in a problem or two so we try not to use it too much.:-[
Colin, must agree fully only quality machines come from america to australia.;-)
Schizo, we have often thought of floating it back on a ship to europe and apologising for buying it:-D

Re: WORST TRACTOR
Another interesting thread. I guess it is like alot of things, isnt it? Cars, tv's, washing machines, etc. Some people swear by a certain brand, others have nothing but bad things to say about the same brand or model.

I know guys who have had trouble with JD's & Case IH's & I know others who swear by them. It is how you find a brand, in terms of performance, reliability, spare parts backup, etc that is usually the reason you stick with it.

Worst tractor I have ever driven, a Belarus 920 FWA!!!!

Cheers,

TC ;-)

Re: WORST TRACTOR
Hey Schizo, Australia imports just about everything when it comes to machinery so you have no fear of getting it's junk. Our biggest export is supposedly empty shipping containers.
