Re: Décompacteur Grégoire-Besson
Wow, that is a serious machine...

How many horses are needed to pull this machine, and how
deep does it work ?? Could you show a close-up picture of
the blade angle ?? I'm curious about the curvature of the
blades, because in our area, we dont have curved blades on
rippers, just the so-called "goose feet" blades.
Re: Décompacteur Grégoire-Besson
You need 25 to 30 horses per ploughshare minimum to work to
30 cm depth. This kind of tool can go down until 50 cm. Here
we have varied blades : curved blades, right blades, "goose
feet" blades... The curved blades move the ground laterally
in addition to moving the ground vertically. Sorry but I
haven't got a close-up picture of
the blade.
Re: Décompacteur Grégoire-Besson
Thanks !! 25 to 30 hp per share ??
The soil type must be quite heavy clay, i suppose...
What is the average working speed of these machines ??
Re: Décompacteur Grégoire-Besson
In grounds with 15-20 % of clay, you need a 150 horses
tractor to work at 7 km/h and 35 cm depth. For the average
working speed, all depend of the power which you put in
front of and your working depth...
Re: Décompacteur Grégoire-Besson
You drop those in the ground, you want to have your horse in
the right gear cause they will stop you. We have a set of 6
shank rippers, pull them 14 inches deep in heave clay. The
tractor pulling them is 255 horsepower. With the front
tires loaded, and a ful rack of weights. 1800 pounds, those
rippers will take the front end of the tractor off the
ground 2 feet if you are not careful
Re: Décompacteur Grégoire-Besson
we work with a three leg ripper, 70 cm deep pulled by a 50
hp Zetor 5245 on duals, at 3.5 km/h.... Well our soil isn't
the toughest either... medium sand soil with some minor ore
Re: Décompacteur Grégoire-Besson
Hey, i just calculated the 14 inches you spoke about...

It made me grin when i realised that it's only 35 cm... We
use to pull a 2 meter wide, 11 tine cultivator at 35 cm

Your soil, i think, is quite different from ours...
Re: Décompacteur Grégoire-Besson
Hi Renze !
Yes I think you've got quite different soils :-) !
