A long shot of a Case IH 2388 combine harvesting a poppy crop, Perth, Tasmania summer 2000. The truck & trailer combination are pulled up nearby waiting for the next bin full ;-)

A grainfeeder used for feeding sheep, Perth, Tasmania summer 2001. The hopper holds approx 1 tonne & the unit is towed behind a farm ute. The operator sets the amount to be fed then the unit will start & feed out that amount before driving to the next paddock to continue his job.

An important piece of gear, especially in drought times like alot of the state is experiencing currently.

Delmade heavy roller, Longford, Tasmania 1999. A handy machine for rolling grassland, as well as crops such as peas & forage rape. The machine can be filled with water, for extra ballast (weight).

Re: Farming Photos from Tasmania
Great pictures, TC :-)
Also used a roll semelhnate to the that you posted, it is used to break earth turfs in soils with high clay tenor.
There is another called type "roll knife", used to bury the straw of the rice after the crop.

Regards.

The same paddock featured in photo 2 of this thread, during a wet winter leading up to a poppy crop being grown, Perth, Tasmania, winter 1999.

The paddock ended up drying out & we managed to get it into top shape.

Re: Farming Photos from Tasmania
I dont think it worked down too badly :-D

The same paddock, in October 1999, Perth, Tasmania.

The presswheels on the drill have left these nice grooves that can be seen clearly in this shot.

Smudge, Perth, Tasmania 2000.

This implement is used for levelling ploughed furrows & seedbed consolidation (similar in construction to a dutch harrow, without the spiked tynes).

Had been a bit wet here when this shot was taken, so looks a bit muddy.

Side on shot of a Kverneland Sloddharv 6.3 metre cultivator, Perth, Tasmania 2000.

This is one of the best cultivators ever built IMO, does a good job in a wide range of soil types & situations. Here it is hitched to a John Deere 8440.

Re: Farming Photos from Tasmania
The same combination from the rear.

The paddock had been worked, then we had a few rainy days so things are still a bit sticky, as you can see ;-)

Gr8 pics Tas.

That Kverneland 6,3 m cultivator is an incredible piece, neighbour used to have one almost the same and it did a superb job.

Re: Farming Photos from Tasmania
Thanks Stark :-)

It was owned by a local contractor (who has since gone out of contracting & into farming full time). It was new in 1986, so by this time, it had done alot of work.

There were a few smaller linkage mounted Sloddharv's around here in the mid - late 1980's (the biggest being 4.5 metres) but they werent all that popular here.

Regards,

Craig (TC) ;-)

Looking out onto a spring barley crop, Perth, Tasmania 1998. Irrigation pipe trailer in the distance & old shed used for machinery storage behind that.
