Re: High moisture barley
How high have the moisture readings been Aslomp? Does this end up feeding dairy or beef cattle?

Regards,

TC ;-)

Re: High moisture barley
It was about 28% moisture. This is at a dairy.

Ok, how did the combine handle the grain at that moisture level?

Re: High moisture barley
Nice photos alomp.

Since the combine on those photos is number 8, this custom operator must have at least 8 combines.

If you have photos of the group combining in a same field please post them.

Combining this crop went good but I plugged the straw chopper once in a green patch

We bought this combine used, the combine is number 8 and the header is number 6. The combine came from a large farm in southern Alberta.

Re: High moisture barley
Arjan,

did you buy the combine from Darren Taylor Harvesting Inc. in Lethbridge, Alberta?

Re: High moisture barley
I think it's actually Aslomp, from Canada Tony :-[

Thanks for your reply Aslomp. I have seen combines struggle doing poppies where there has been green weeds such as thistles or fathen (chenopodium spp).

Cheers,

TC ;-)

I am not sure who owned it before but we bought it from a dealer in Pincher Creek.

Straw is a bitch this year , I'm currently in 1000 acres of oats and moisture is reasonable at 15% but due to wet summer germination very varied so some straw is like S@#T and plugging the 1688 and 1480 several times a day . I don't feel so bad cos my neighbour has a 9610,9650 and cat lexion and i see them all pulling oat straw out of them ( Love those bleeding knuckles) ;-)

Re: High moisture barley
I only had trouble in this field as the straw still looked green and had a lot of second growth. The winter wheat went realy good without any problems.
