MOUNTVIC 484894 273 Challenger MT835B either
Challenger MT835B
We spotted this Challenger off state road 27 today. Actually they had three other Challengers in that field.

So we stopped and I took a few photos.

Re: Challenger MT835B
Tony, any idea why they preffer tracks instead of tires? are track tractors cheaper than tire ones?

Re: Challenger MT835B
Victor,

The claim is that they get better traction with the tracks.

We don't see that many tractors with tracks.

Re: Challenger MT835B
Jdeere Victor asked a legitimate question.

On the used tractors market there is really not that big of a difference in price. When bought new the tractors with the tracks is more expensive, but if you ask me by the time you add duals on the front and on the back the price difference is not as big as some people might think.

Re: Challenger MT835B
Tony & JD, thanks for your answers. A guy told me that in loose soil such as sandy, when you turn tracks sometimes loose traction. I can´t tell if that´s true cause I haven´t seen a track tractor in action.

Victor

Re: Challenger MT835B
The track tractors don't work well on silage, but in almost every other condition you get more drawbar pull, so they do more work.

The California fresh vegetable market is almost 100% track tractors, with 70 - 80% of them Challenger.:-)

Re: Challenger MT835B
Ryan, I looked at a few 95e flat-track CAT's before deciding on the MT machine.. at least the MT is more modern in the cab & track design

Re: Challenger MT835B
Thank you Ryan. We spotted this one by the road a few weeks ago. I had also posted some photos of a MT945B articulated tractor, on threads #469447 and #466062.

Cat driver it looks like they are using the AFS AccuGuide system from Case IH.

Thanks guys.
