Greetings all.

First, my apologies for the continued sluggishness of FP. The problem relates to the server's CPU being pegged at 100% for much of the time. I am trying to do a number of things to fix this.

You will notice that threads have a slightly different look and that threads load in a piecewise fashion. The idea here is to reduce the server load. Normally the page will be constructed on the server and then downloaded to you. In the new model only the information from the page is downloaded and then javascript is used on your browser to format the page. It's a pretty radical change that will hopefully have 2 benefits - 1) less work for the server, and 2) quicker initial page display. It is a complicated way of doing things however, so it may take a while to sort out all the problems.

Feel free to list bugs, complaints etc....

@Geoff: No, this was a bug. I must have fixed it between the times you looked at it... It should be fine everywhere now.

Re: Site changes
The pages are loading very slow, because every message needs 30 - 60 seconds to load up. :-(

Re: Site changes
Stu

Over the years thru FP I learn to identify several flags, however I still have trouble with a few or simply forget them. Now my question is are they anyway when I point to them that once again that they can be idenitified

Thanks

Re: Site changes
Hi Roy, yes, this was a nice feature that I ditched for a minor technical reason thinking "I'll figure out how to get that back when I get a free minute". Of course the problem with that way of thinking is that you never get a free minute!

I'll figure out how to make this work again asap....

EDIT: OK, this is fixed now.

Re: Site changes
PS. I am pleased to report that the site is running much faster now. It looks like the changes I made have had a positive effect on the server CPU as, even at it's busiest, it is now only averaging about 40% utilization. There are still bugs with the new code but i am getting to them as I get time. It helps me when people report things they are not happy with, so thanks to all those who have.

Re: Site changes
i didn't like the changes first because the site still was slow, but now it's working great:-)
I have a sugestion for the site that's not really related to this thread, but i'll mansion it anyway. When you go to "my history" you see a part of your message when you keep your point at it, it looks like a good idea to me to make the same thing at "my threads";-)

I take that back for a part, i don't care that every message has to load, but it is annoying that every message has to load every time you open the thread:-\.
Isn't there a way of saving every message that you open so the next time it doesn't have to load?

The rest of the site works very quick;-)
