Re: F-350

how much would the whole trailer and load weigh ?

Re: F-350
I count 17 bales.
depending on bale weight, varying from 250 to 350 kg, it
must be about 4500 to 6000 kg...:-)

DOES THAT THING GOT A POWERSTROKE IN IT

Re: F-350
We have a 1000 beef steers and we haul hay with our semis.
On our long trailer (48ft) we can haul 23 bales that weigh
2000 lbs. a piece. If there are 17 bales on that trailer
that would be 34,000 lbs. Only a Powerstroke could pull
that load.:-)

ID LIKE TO SEE A DURAMAX DO THAT

Re: F-350
first of all why the heck are you in there with a truck and
second a duramax will do that, but one thing i like are the
engines in the new ford pick-ups with the nice turbo's.

Re: F-350
Justin why do you knock a Duramax? I hear sooooo many people
say bad things about these trucks. maybe because it's an
Isuzu engine? Now I don't know much about them as I don't
have a need for a Diesel truck. So I am Just wondering why
you say a Duramax couldn't do that same job as a
Powerstroke. BTW I'm a Chevy man but I don't have anything
against Fords.

Re: F-350
HEY LANCE AND ADRAIN

I AM A FORD AND CHEVY MAN (BELEIVE IT OR NOT) BUT I PROBABLY
WOULD TAKE A FORD OVER A CHEVY. I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING
GOOD ABOUT DURAMAXS, AND I HEARD SOME HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS
LIKE THE CRANKSHAFT SNAPPIN AND AND THINGS LIKE THAT. I
HAVE SEEN A 7.3 POWERSTROKE BEAT A DURAMAX, BUT I DO NOT
KNOW HOW THE TRUCKS WERE SET UP (MAYBE THE FORD HAD A MANUAL
AND HAD LOWER GEAR RATIO). BUT I REALLY DO LIKE THE OLD
CHEVYS. MY BROTHER HAS A 1979 CHEVY K-10 BONANZA WITH A 350
4 BARREL AND TURBO 350 AUTOMATIC TRANNY, AND I ABSOLUTELY
LOVE THAT TRUCK. RIGHT NOW IT HAS A CRACKED BLOCK AND BLOWN
HEAD GASKET, BUT MY BROTHER IS GONNA TRY AND JB WELD THE
BLOCK AND HOPE IT WORKS. I GUESS THE 7,000 POUNDS OF
FIREWOOD DIDNT HELP ;-). THE ONLY EXPERIENCE I HAVE WITH
DIESELS IS MY DADS 87 F-350 WITH A 6.9. KIND OF A DOG, BUT
GITS THE JOB DONE. SORRY IF I MADE YA GUYS MAD BOUT THAT,
BUT I DIDNT MEAN TO

Re: F-350
Hay now dont be nockin the chevy d-max diesiel. In our 02
Chevy dually we have a duramax dieiel with banks exhaust and
it would pull any 03 or 04 7.3 powerstroker backwords. But
if chevy didnt have the dmax i would go with dodge and the
cummins dielel. That is one good and reliable and POWERFULL
engine. "Id rather be a cummin than a strokin"

Re: F-350
You didn't make me mad Justin...........was just a little
curious about your comment. On a lot of the msg boards I
post to Chevys always get a bad rap, and usually by Ford
guys (go figure lol). Chevy runs in the family so that's
always my 1st choice vehicle. Currently hunting for a 69-72
Chevy pickup. Man I love that bodystyle:-D

Re: F-350
Chris I agree about the Cummins........problem is the truck
aint worth nothing IMO. I think Dodges are bulit cheaper
than GM and Ford. And they have lots of tranny problems from
what I hear.

Re: F-350
I think its kinda funny that Ford uses powerstrokes instad
of the cummins. Obviously they know something considering
that ford motot company owns cummins. The powerstroke is
made by international. Seems kinda stupid to put an
inferior engine in your truck if you already own one.

Re: F-350
Hi,

Actually ford does not own Cummins, at one point they owned
21%, but Cummins bought it back!!

Here's a link to check out

(scroll down to question number 35 and read on!!)

Nothing wrong with Duramax diesels, just dont put a Bull DOg
onn them, if you do you are asking for trouble!!

Re: F-350
Just reading your posts hear, it all makes me laugh. I am a
Chevy person when it comes to the V-8 gas motors, and a Ford
when it comes to the diesels and maybe V-10s. I'd rather
drive a stroker than a cumapart, in a diesel. Around hear
about 3/4 of the diesels are Powerstrokes, and we drive them
rough and they run. In fact, when the tractor pulls get over
we take our stock pickups and pull the sled, all for
bragging rights and fun I guess, and in the last few pulls
I've seen the Powerstrokes win. If you pull, though, I would
suggest manual transmission, and a chip or you won't be
going too far. Powerstrokes weigh more than a cummins or a
duramax so they seem to do better, because you want the
weight up front, and you can get more power out of them. My
dad owns a F-250 with a PS, chipped by Hypermax. And it will
outpull any Dmax or Cummins around here. As far as Chevy gas
motors go, I am a longtime fan of the ever popular Chevy
350, why they cancelled it I will never know. It is the best
all around motor I have ever been around. I do like the new
6 litre Chevy has, but not the 5.3 or the 8.1. I guess
that's what I have to say about this. But, I have nothing
against the others, it's just that I like what I like.

Re: F-350
The 350 was THE BEST V8 ever built, why Chevy stopped making
it I have no clue. The Vortecs are good though. That new SS
Silverado has the 6000 (6 liter) VOrtec and is one sharp
truck, I just can't afford it.:-[ Like I said I have no use
for a Diesel. And don't really care for truck pulling
either.

Re: F-350
We've got a 72 Chevorlet 2 ton grain truck with a 350 in it.
It has over 100,000 miles on it and is still running
strong. We've also got a 4690 IH cabover with a 350
cummins. It will pull 100,000 gvw with no problem.

Re: F-350
CHEVY 350S ARE DEFINATELY THE BEST GAS V-8 EVER MADE. MY
BROTHERS 1979 CHEVY K-10 HAS ONE, AND IT IS A TUFF TRUCK.
IT PULLED 5 RANKS OF FIREWOOD (A RANK IS 8 FEET BY 4 FEET)
ABOUT 50-60 MILES WITH A BLOWN HEAD GASKET LIKE IT ALWAYS
DID BEFORE. IT ONLY HAS ABOUT 125,000 ON IT, BUT THOSE
MILES SOME HARD ONES. MY UNCLE HAD IT BEFORE MY BROTHER,
AND HE SAID THAT HE PULLED THE BUMPER OFF OF IT A FEW TIMES.
BEFORE THE BLOWN HEAD GASKET, IT WOULD DO BOUT 120 AND DO
BURN OUTS LIKE YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE. I THINK IT HAS A 3.08
REAR END, BECAUSE THERE WOULD BE NO WAY IT COULD DO 120 WITH
THAT 3 SPEED WITH ANY OTHER GEAR RATIO HIGHER THEN THAT. MY
BROTHER IS LOOKIN FOR A 454, BUT IF HE CANT FIND ONE HES
GONNA TRY AND JB WELD THE BLOCK. HOPE IT HOLDS UP WITH
THAT. WELL I GOTTA GO
