Re: Renault 53
Is it better like that ? I've upgraded my scan, but I meet
some overload problems when uploading...

Re: Renault 53
Hi David,

currently I have the site set to resize large pictures down
to 800 pixels in width. You might want to resize the
pictures to this size before uploading so you can control
the resampling process. Also look at the JPEG compression
factor when saving the file. You can make the file a lot
smaller in this way without losing any quality (if you're
careful...).

If people don't like the 800 pixel cap on picture size I
could also remove it. It's just that the pictures are hard
to view online when they are bigger than this.

Thanks a lot for your precious comments, I'm going to have a

Re: Renault 53
:-[

I have not found any idea to reduce the JPG size on my scan.
It's a CANON canoscan N650U. Is there anybody who could help
me ?

Thanks in advance,

David

Re: Renault 53
Hi David,

to reduce the size of a JPG image you have to save it with a
higher level of compression. Normally when you save an image
with software there will be an "advanced options" button (or
something like that which will let you change the copression
factor (sometimes referred to as 'file size' or 'quality').
I would presume the scanner software has this capability but
if not you may have to reopen the image in image editing
software (like http://www.irfanview.com/ - it's free) and
resave it there.

if you really want to understand more about the JPEG format
check out http://www.faqs.org/faqs/jpeg-faq/

best,

Stu
