Faba Bean Crop
Beans are exported for human consumtion,
excellent crop for adding nitrogen to soil.
Crop looking good this year:-)
Re: Faba Beans
Tried to grow them a number of times in Hawaii with no luck.
Perhaps its just too hot here. They would germinate ok but
never flower. I love fava beans though and will eventually
find a place higher up the mountain to try them.
Re: Faba Beans
Thank you for the reply Ken
Faba Beans like cooler climates, above 20 cel they have
trouble podding. There are disease's that cause problems
Ascochyta Blight and Chocolate Spot, some years too many
fungicide applications reduce the profit. This newer variety
"Fiesta" has some tolerance to Chocolate Spot making it less
reliant on fungicide.

Re: Faba Beans
I wonder if there are any heat tolerant cultivars, perhaps
from the middleast. Here it seldom goes below 20C.
Guess I'll have to stick to lima beans for now.

Take care
