Re: Old David Brown
We had also a David Brown 2d. But this was a 2d narrow. My
dad bought this tractor for 15 years ago with in France
withe 2 AC G's and a Tractor "GR". The tractor "GR" is a AC
G, but build unther license from Allis Chalmers in France.
He got's a Indenor TMD80 diesel-engine from about 20 hp. We
sold the G's and the David Brown. I've got the "GR" for
restauration, but I've got at the moment not much time for
restoring him.

Re: Model N Standard Fordson
Pictures Taken 26-10-2003 at a ploughing match at Sweep Farm

From 1933 Fordson Model N production was moved to the Ford
Plant at Dagenham, Essex. The main advantages of the Model
N Standard Fordson over the Model F were a more powerful
engine of 27 h.p., a high tension ignition system, water
pump and mudguards as standard equipment. Pneumatic tyres
were an extra cost option, initially uptake was quite slow
but once their advantages became appreciated many Model N
owners replaced the iron wheels with pneumatic tyres, it was
not uncommon that this would be for the rear wheels only

Re: Fordson Dexta
Pictures Taken 26-10-2003 at a ploughing match at Sweep Farm

The Fordson Dexta 957E Tractor launched in 1957 was a
completely new design intended to compete directly with
Massey Ferguson 35 Tractor. The Dexta was fitted with a
30.5 h.p. three cylinder direct injection diesel engine with
an in-line fuel injection pump and pneumatic governor. The
engine was reliable, economical and unlike many other
contemporary diesel engines it was a willing starter even in
cold weather. The Fordson Dexta was also the first Fordson
Tractor to be fitted with a position and draught (Qualitrol)
hydraulic system.

The Fordson Dexta 957E Tractor pictured above is the version
which was updated during 1960. Changes to this version
were: headlights incorporated into the grille, Fordson Dexta
badge on each side of the bonnet. As with the previous
version standard equipment included, six forward and two
reverse speed gearbox, adjustable wheel track, category 1
three point linkage, independent drum brakes, power take-off
and a tip-back drivers seat with cushion. Optional extras
included a dual clutch with live hydraulics and power
take-off, an automatic pick-up hitch and power adjustable
rear wheels.

Re: Fardson Major
Pictures Taken 26-10-2003 at a ploughing match at Sweep Farm
near Wetherby.

The Fordson Major E1A Tractor was launched at the 1951
Smithfield Show. Design had started in 1944 with one basic
engine that could be built for diesel, petrol, or vaporising
oil. The new tractor was in the 40 h.p. range with a
totally new overhead valve engine. To equalize the power,
the bore was larger for the diesel to increase engine
capacity from 3,260 to 3,604 cc. The tractor was larger and
heavier than the E27N it replaced. Transmission was via a
single plate clutch with six forward and two reverse gears
and spur gear final drive.
