Re: MF 3085
Jim I don't understand. You say You have a 3085 with turbo
who gives 105 Hp. But in my brouchures it says that a 3080 (
I don't have brouchure on 3085)that 3080 gives 100 Hp DIN on
engine, and 92 Hp DIN on PTO, so what do You use as a turbo?
A hairdryer? If You have a tractor with about 100 Hp. You
should get it up to about 120 Hp with no problem with a
turbo. You should even get up to a little under 120, just by
giving it more diesel, without the turbo! :-\

Re: MF 3085
right 19 are u that would explain why u dont remember the
year of your own tractor which u say u drive all the time
which aint 120 horse even with a supercharger u seem to be a
few slates short of a roof alan.

Re: MF 3085
Jim. I have one question for you: Are You drunk all the time
or can't You just face that You are wrong. A 3085 is 100 Hp
without turbo. And its not a supercharger, it's called
turbocharger. Even I know that with my poor english.
And if Your 3085 is 105 Hp with turbo, so must that tractor
be totally worn out. By the way: You have posted pics of the
other MF's You have, but I have not seen pics of the 3085.
Maybe You don't have one at all?

And to You ALAN. I believe You because I was standing next
to my friends 3085 when it was tested out with 118 Hp on
pto. And with ca 7-8 Hp loss of Hp through the transmission,
it's about 125 Hp on engine. But the tractor smokes a little
adjusted to this level, but my friend needs it to pull Claas
Quadrant big baler

Re: MF 3085
i will comprehensively answer all of your questions: 1 i
aint drunk
2. u obviously have never heard of a supercharger they use
them on larger engines more like detroit or cummins, it is
similar to a turbocharger as u so kindely pointed out but
the power is not generated from exhaust fumes which makes it
a much more efficient machine, the drive is direct from the
engine to create extra power and more importantly there is
no back pressure on the engine tro lessen power as a result.
if your 85 was supercharged it would be around 130 hp
but it would blow up because the block isnt designed to
withstand such pressures. and another thing the PTO
is impossible to be what u say it is because its a fact PTO
hp is always at least 10 percent less than crank hp and u
diddnt test it either unless u have a proffetional garage or
something
and my
3085 u are right, but u will also notice i havent sent a
photo in for some monthes because my olympus broke on
holiday i need a new one i will send them in as soon as poss
thanks

where did i say i owned the tractor?

Re: MF 3085
Jim. The tractor that I was talking about was tested with a
dynamometer at a workshop who only work on diesel engines in
tractors, trucks and construction vehicles. And it turned
out with 118 Hp on pto. But your answer to this is probably
that I'm lying, or that the dynamometer was wrong.

Re: MF 3085
Jim. I know what a supercharger is. And if You want to know,
can I tell You that Valmet produced a tractor in the early
-80'ies with supercharger and pulled out 120 Hp of a 4.4
litre 4 cyl, so why can't perkins use a supercharger on a 6
cyl. without blowing up the hole shit?
The 3085 that I was telling about is not worked on by
amateurs. My friend let proffesionals do the work. And I
drove him to the workshop when the tractor was finished
there, so he could pick it up. And they tested it on the
dynamometer so my friend could see for him self, and I stood
beside him when thy did.

Re: MF 3085
I didn´t know there were tractors charged by a compressor.
Were there others than the valmet?
And about to high pressure, I though they solved this
problem with the "Wastegate"-technology.

Re: MF 3085
I don't know other than the Valmet 1203. And I don't know
how many were built, but it's a rare tractor today. I have
never seen one "live" but they say that it had a great
sound, and I've been reading data about it, and the torque
in that engine is as high as modern engines in the "4 cyl
war" that different brands are in today. I will find a parts
catalog of this tractor, and try to post pictures of this
compressor, because I have a Valmet 1102 with the same
engine with turbo giving 107 Hp DIN on crankshaft, and 104
Hp on PTO. And when Jim said that every tractor have at
least 10% loss of power in the transmission, he should stop
and think of this: Loss of power trough transmission depends
of how the transmission is built, for example: You get less
power on pto if you have many hydraulic clutches and devices
the power must go trough. And if you have a straight axle
from the engine to the PTO, you don't get so much loss of
power

Valmet 1203
The Valmet 1203 had a factory installed Comprex Wave
Supercharger which came out in 1980.

Re: MF 3085
if u know what a super charger is why when i said:
supercharger did u freak out an go beserk
and: the valmet was built to a specification which could
withstand the extra presures which would be exerted on the
engine by the supercharger im not saying it would blow up
but the chances are that this would be the case.

I will explain: u sed: why will it blow up a perkins the
reason for this is a supercharger like i said is more
powerfull and more efficient so more presure would be
exerted on the engine throught the hight torque, because the
engine woulde be more powerfull it could lift an pull more
but would exert more pressure on all the mechanics of the
engine which means it more likely to drop a valve and throw
it throught the block my friend.

Re: MF 3085
Ah yes, the Comprex-charger. I read about that.
As far as I understand it is driven by the engine but the
air is still pressed in by the fumes.I´ll try to scan the
pic.

Re: MF 3085
thanks at last someone with a brain who decided to use it

Re: MF 3085
Jim: Use what? The comprex or the brain? As far as I know
Valmet went away from that charger, when they started to
build Volvo Bm Valmet, The biggest tractors in that series
is 2005 and 2105 (2105 w/intercooler), And that's totally
Volvo BM tractor, the only thing who is Valmet, is the
bonnet.
Why Valmet never fitted 6 cyl. in 02 and 03 series, I don't
know, because the bonnet is long enough, for sure. And the
transmission is strong enough to take the torque

Jim just answer to the things that he is comfortable with.
Seems like we stopped him on this Hp talk that he thought he
was a world champion in, and now he still talks like a bad
mood baby, How old are you Jim? 10? Maybe it's your fathers
tractor you post pictures of. No one know in a site like
this.
