It keeps dirt/dust thrown up by the tracks out of the
radiator.
Nice pic, just a bit of rolling countryside ehh!

Jose: The add on in front is called a "Palouse Scoop."
Open at the top, the scoops function is to reduce the
dust intake through the radiator. The result is much less
wear ( from the sandblast effect of fan) on the radiator
fins, the alternator and the belt set.

What model (year), weight, Hp is this machine?
What models of these cats are used as tractors? Because I
have only seen them with dozer blades as
constructionmachines, and not as tractor. I've seen D4, D5,
D6, D7 and D10

John, these are interesting photos what other Cats do you
run on your farm? with this kind of land I expect you use
hillside combines to harvest these fields?
