Massey Ferguson 220 XL swather delivery.
Just before harvest our Massey Ferguson 220 XL swather was delivered. Q-line hauled it a total of 500 km's to our yard. In the photo the truck is coming into the driveway.

Re: Massey Ferguson 220 XL swather delivery.
Swathers are funny things to drive off a trailer because of the steering system.

Thanks to Tas, BP, Sander, Hendrik, Tony, and Jerome!

To Tas and Jerome, keep a close eye here cause I am going to start my '09 harvest thread soon.

To Titonti, we choose this model because it seems that everything is designed and built with all the needs of the farmer as top priority. We looked at many different brands (and I am not going to name them because there is people that are going to bitch and what not) This model is a mixture of old an school swather and a high tech one from these days. Another good thing about the Massey swathers is that they really keep their value as they get older.

Re: Massey Ferguson 220 XL swather delivery.
I agree on the interesting bit for loading and unloading from a trailer. Used to move our MacDon 9300 down into Illinois to windrow wheat and it was interesting indeed. One thing that helped was the wider rear tires..... 16.5L16.1's. Only thing I would have changed would have been 18.4-26 drives instead of 21.5L16.1's. I put 3800 hours on that in 3 years and biggest problem was flat tires. (And that's a BIG problem on county roads with a 21 foot draper).

Baling crew I cut for down there was running Hesston SP's in Colorado and the guys were very impressed with the MacDon and it's hydraulic motor on wheel hub drive vs the chain drives.

That Massey looks like a sharp machine though..... I will be looking forward to watching your harvest in pictures.

I almost miss the custom harvesting years. Almost but not quite.

Cab photos for Brendan. In general a very nice layout of the cab. Roomy door compared to our previous swather.
