Volvo BM 650
Who knows more about this tractor? How many HP? (it has four
cilinders) When was it built? Are there many pieces sold?
Reliability? Is it worth a restauration?

Re: Volvo BM 650
This is a Volvo BM T650. It has a D42 4.2 litre 4 cilinder
volvo engine, which has 78HP. They were built from 1970
untill the end of volvo bm tractors in 1983. This is a
genaration 2 tractor. These were made between about '73 and
'79. The first generation has an other cabin, smaller
hydraulics and a less powerful engine ( it was the same
engine but with a lower output, 73 HP ) The third generation
has black decals instead of this one in white.
The T700 is big brother of this tractor, it has the same
engine but now with turbo ( 90 hp ). This tractor was made
from '76 to '83. There were between 15 and 30 T700's with
Hydraulic 4wd built. Built by Kuiken in Holland. In 1980
Volvo BM launched a prototype of the a new serie. It had the
same shape as the T650/T700 but with a D45 / TD45 engine and
mechanic 4wd. It should have been the 2400 series ( like the
2200 series and the well known 2600 series ( 2650 / 2654 )).
But this model was never made in serie due to the merger of
Volvo with Valmet. Instead they developed the well known
Volvo BM Valmet 05 series.
Although the 650 is a good tractor. A strong engine and good
gearbox, but with a bad ( rusty cabin ) I don't think it is
worth a restauration. The price for these machines is low.
It is the most produced BM tractor: 26000 pieces. In Danmark
and Sweden there are hundreds for sale. Better ones than the
one on your pictures Bart. A T700 is worth more money,
because of the turbo and Tractrol ( hydraulic Hilo ) they
are used for tractorpulling.

I hope you know more now! Is this tractor for sale or is it
yours?

Greetings, RVM

Thanks for the reactions.
RVM, it seems that you are an expert when it comes to Volvo
BM's. For about two years now, this tractor isn't moved from
its place. It's the only Volvo I know in the area, expect
for a few 800 and 814's which are used for tractorpulling.
It's quite a rare tractor over here, but I don't live in
Scandinavia :-) The tractor is from a neighbour. He's not a
farmer and has bought it 5 years ago. He used to do some
cultivating with it in his garden, but now it just stands
there and it seems that it will not be used anymore. It's a
shame... :-(

Re: Volvo BM 650
Ik kom ook gewoon uit nederland hoor. Waar kom jij van? NL /
België. Van wie zijn die 800 en 814's? Mariman, Dams?

oldtimerliefhebbers...
