The 8900 series magnums will walk all over the 8000 series
JD's. I know that for a fact, i have used both of them.
Re: Deere Killer
That's a nice one. Never seen one w/triples. As for the 8000
Deeres, I think they're pretty good too. I'll take either
one if given to me.:-D

Re: Deere Killer
Sorry, The reason i say that about the 8000 JD's is because
we had leased a brand new one and within the three years we
ran it, the tractor had to go back to the dealership for
repairs 6 times. Most repairs were oil leaks, such as the
main seal between the motor and tranny. But the major repair
was when the pto shaft had broke inside the machine. And
that is pretty poor considering it was brand new. And on the
other hand we have ran magnums since 1988 and they have been
flawless for us. Im not a big color guy, i just go with what
proves itself. And this 8930 has been a excellent machine.
If you want a good quality tractor you cant go wrong with a
Re: Deere Killer
Hi Dave.. Here in Denmark we sometimes get a "Monday's
machine" Ever heard of it? It's meaning that the machine
never is working well. My nabo got a 2 Case mx 135 and he
has changing seal 2 times and and brakes at the back wheel 3
times on both tractors.. And the tractors only got ca 3500
hours on the engine.. Konclusion: No tractor-brand is better
than the other's.. :-)
Re: Deere Killer
My goodness I hope all those were warranty repairs Dave.
There's quite a few of them around this area, since this is
cotton country and green is popular among cotton farmers,
but I don't think i've heard of that many problems w/them.
You are absolutely right about the Magnums too, gotta be one
of the best tractor lines ever built. They're very popular
around here too.

Re: Deere Killer
They covered the first two years, but i had to pick up the
bill for all of the repairs made on the third year. I was
very dissapointed in the quality of service i was given. The
tractor was a 1998 8200. It was a nice machine when it would
run. I guess it was my luck of the draw to get the lemon.
There is also many magnums, MX's and 8000 series JD's in my
area. I have just been very impressed with the quality and
reliability of the magnums. And for that i wouldnt have any
other tractor!!
