Re: County 774
Bayer,
Essentially its a Ford 6610 skid unit....4 cyl. 86 BS HP
with 8 x 4 transmission. This model wasn't so popular in
U.K.

Re: County 774
well I would think its largely to do with the price
difference between the 774 and 6610/6710 4wd.
eg: [based on 1984 prices]
774 £22,880 UK.P
6610 £17,092 UK.P
6710 £18,730 UK.P

In these times most farmers found that 99% of the work
required from 85-90 HP tractor could be done adequately by a
6610 without the expense of running to a 774. The difference
in weight and turning circle made the County really only
suitable for heavy-duty work such as in a forest.

In the event that a customer wanted some serious muscle he
had the choice of either the 1184 or 8210 both very popular
tractors in their time, in most cases they went for the
8210, again I am sure price played a big part in this and
don't forget just how manoeverable it is in comparison to
its equal-wheeled cousin. Its a case of "horses for
courses".

Anyone got anything to add?

Re: County 774
another question,

i think this one is already answered on this site but i
don't now it for myself,

what is the difference between a normal ford and a county
exept shape and wheels etc.?

what's the advantage of it to run a county instead of a
ford?

you meant forrest, i can go with that idea but what more
kind of things are there to run a county?

thanks,

Mathieu Perdaems.

How big is your farm and what kind of farm is it so you need
