Re: Case 885XL
Owain,
Its a cracking little tractor, we've been very pleased with
its performance.
Picked up second-hand in March '95 with about 3,500 hrs on
the clock, now its up to 8235 hrs.

Re: Case 885XL
For things like baling, i think it would be a handy, very
manouverable tractor. For heavy tillage i wont rely on
them.:-(

Re: Case 885XL
Renze,
We are fortunate enough to have good drivers and correctly
matched equipment, obviously any tractor used beyond the
reasonable limits it was constructed for would become
unreliable - even a Zetor :-D

...pulling a Kv 4f plough, 12" furrow width. We've now
progressed to 3f Rev....up there with the big boys now :-)

The rest of our 'fleet' - sounds impressive :-P - 4230 and
Farmhand F15 loader and a MF165 hooked to a Tanco bale
wrapper.

Just found this one - when you can't make up your mind
whether you want round or square you do both...... bring on
the 4000 and NH 376 baler :-)

Re: Case 885XL
Nice pictures Richard.
Nearly 5000 hours in 7 years so that tractor does quite a
bit of hours/year.
How many hectares do you farm?

Re: Case 885XL
Richard,
More nice pictures, I like your fleet ! The 885xl and
4230 especially. At home we have a 585xl which is also a
nice tractor (although 82hp would be nice ). it ploughs with
a 3 furrow 12" kv plough but im looking for a 2 furrow (or
small 3 furrow rev ). The 4230 looks a tidy tractor, I
wouldnt mind one of them (perhaps a replacement for the 585
one day) :-D

Re: Case 885XL
Einachser, we have 57 hectares of mixed farming enterprise.
It divides up with about 14 hectares of barley, 14 hectares
of grass for hay or silage and the remaining as pasture for
cattle [not milking] and sheep. But recently we've been hit
bad by tuberculosis and have lost quite a lot of our cows
and beef animals.
The 885 does the tillage, baling etc. and the 4230 is really
only used for loader work, which means daily use during
winter time.

Re: Case 885XL
Owain,
The 4230 is a good for loader work in our system, we got it
about 18 mths ago second hand with 3400hrs....now on
4,800hrs, it doesn't have the shuttle option, only the 16f
8r.

You wouldn't want to be in that cab during a hot summer its
like a glasshouse! But for yard work its o.k. good
visibility and easy to get in and out of.
