Re: OK I Know that it's a Deutz
Yeah it's a Deutz Intrac. Actually based on a normal deutz(allis) tractor as we knew them he in N-america. They were designed to combine two jobs in one pass. For example a mower in the front and a self loading forage wagon in the back. Or a planter in the back with a tender hopper on top of the back and a the same time some sort of seedbed preparation in the front. Mercedes Benz had the MB-trac. The idea never completely disappeared (e.g. the Claas Xerion!!), but it was never a big hit. The 'system-tractors' did not perform better than a conventional tractor, and they were more expensive. What we did inherit from it, is the sloped hood, most tractors have today, to give you more visabilaty in the front, so you can better see the front mower, front tilling equipment and so on.

Re: OK I Know that it's a Deutz
This is a Intrac and the answere of DEUTZ to the very successful FENDT Rowcrop (=Geräteträger). It based on a usul tractor only the cabin with many glas was put on the front. So the frontview was very good and on the back you have space for a sprayer bodle, for example.

Later he get a biger broter with four equal veels. This typ was only manufactured in low number

more or less a original tractor with its cab on top of the engine.

haveing a better view to the front and a 3th place for equipment placement.

not to many still running in europe at all, especally those from the first series.

Re: OK I Know that it's a Deutz
Thanks For all the imput !!! It actually was a unique idea -- was the cost really all that much more then a standerd set of equipment --- or was it really limited by size or power?? Whatever the matter I thought that it is a nifty machine!!! Mark

Re: OK I Know that it's a Deutz
These were a great little tractor. I used one of the later models with the blue and green colour scheme. It was very handy with a bale wrapper on the front. We set the wheels out wider to cope with the road speed of 45 km/h. It tended to wander otherwise. Later we put a forklift on the front for lifting spud boxes in the field. I may have a picture somewhere with the wrapper on, I'll have a look.

Re: OK I Know that it's a Deutz
Great thread Mark, and off course the others who added pics and info.
When the 51 HP Intrac 2002 was launched there was also a bigger version called the 2005, both introduced in 1972. It had a 90 HP 5 cylinder engine, full hydrostatic driveline devided in 2 ranges(one for field duties and one for transport), and 4 equal sized wheels. It had the same basic look as the 2002/2003.
I think it was dropped after a year or 2 with just a small number produced.
The 2002 was superseded by the 2003 in 1974 with a small increase in power, and in the late '70's the 62 HP 2004(I think this is the one Colin is reffering to) went into production.
They stopped making them around 1983-84.
Very versatile machines, but they never became the succes Deutz hoped for.
There were quite a few of these over here, and still some left today.
