Schuitemaker manure tanker, wasted !!
This is our Schuitemaker manure tanker, picture taken about
15 minutes after it imploded last friday...

The tank is bult in 1976 we believe, and was bought by my
father in 1984. early 90's we bought another tanker,
together with some neighbors, as the bottom was getting
thin. It has been sitting in the bush for 3 years, and then
my brother welded a new bottom sheet over the rotten part,
and overhauled the pump. 5 years ago, the frame began to
crack, and i welded a new frame, using I-beams from a
wrecked building.

This morning, we had a contractor trucking some manure. We
were going to gather the last bit from the pits, so the
contractor could take that as well.

Because the pit was allmost empty, the hose sucked itself
stuck on the bottom. The very thin shell of the tamk
collapsed, i was standing next to it and my father behind
it.

We heard a loud WHAP !! and my father shouted "put that
thing off, put it off !!" I was just laughing and said to my
father that it wouldn't matter anymore..:-P

I was looking for a replacement tank to put on this frame,
so at least, with this reduced size, it is easier to bring
this tank to the scrap trader... :-D

This tanker served us well for 20 years... Time to say
goodbye, i suppose... :-\

You can see the black hose, that connects the zinc coated
foam arrestor to the water lock. It is hanging on the
side....

...Because these bolts, a little bit rotten, snapped off due
to the backfire after the implosion....:-D
Afterwards i have found about 3 broken nuts of axle mounting
point..

Except for the tanker, nobody got hurt...:-)

...And the other side of the tanker...

As you can see in the second photo, the biggest deformation
was on the side of the hose carrying hooks.. When it is
under the trees all winter, with leafs between tanker and
hose, it's getting a little humid there, so it must have
been rotting harder there...

Re: Schuitemaker manure tanker, wasted !!
I am looking for a new tanker !!

Does anyone have a tanker for sale, 5500 to 6500 liter, with
a good tank, and maybe a good set of flotation tires ??
The pump and frame may be worn, no problem.

The frame, foam arrestor, hose couplers and pump are in good
condition, so i need something to unite to make a good
tanker.

If anyone has a bare tank for sale, something like an
underground fuel tank with a wall thickness of around 4 mm,
i am interested also...
