Sorry about all the words but this is the dailogue that
accompanied this pic. I'm sure the big green meanie wouldn't
mind me posting this pic with this text.
Taking tractor productivity and performance to the highest
levels ever, John Deere introduces the new 9620 and 9620T
Tractors rated at 500 engine horsepower. These new
four-wheel drive and large-track tractors are the largest
tractors ever built by John Deere and have all the
industry-proven features of the smaller models.
The new 9620/9620T Tractors are powered by the 12.5 Liter
(766-cu.in.) John Deere PowerTech™ engines that meet Tier II
EPA emission levels. These efficient engines feature a 7%
power bulge at 1900-rpm and a 38% torque rise at 1600-rpm
for a quick response in tough conditions.
"Their unit-injection system with electronic engine control
tailors the torque curve to deliver incredible pulling
power," says Greg Laudick, division manager, marketing,
Waterloo Works. "The new tractors have a tremendous power
response that keeps you going, even in the most difficult
The 9620 Tractors also feature, as standard equipment, the
18-speed PowerShift transmission with Automatic PowerShift
(APS). When APS is activated, the transmission automatically
shifts up or down, based on tractor load, to maximize the
tractor's pulling performance. This field-proven
transmission also offers clutch-free powershifts between
gears, from neutral to gear, and from forward to reverse -
all with the touch of the shift lever.
Inboard planetary final drives with large diameter bar
axles, 120-mm, are featured on the 9620 Tractors. They
provide a wide-range of tread settings and assure dependable
performance in tough conditions. The 9620T Track Tractors
have a rear axle with inboard steering planetaries and
five-pinion outboard final drive planetaries for superior
strength and reliability. The rear axle is
pressure-lubricated and cooled with the transmission
"Cab and comfort features already designed into the smaller
tractors are also available on the 9620 Tractor," explains
Laudick. "Although this is the largest tractor we have ever
built, the 9620 features finger-tip tractor controls for
easy shifts without clutching, tight articulated turns,
extreme operator comfort with an optional ActiveSeat, and
unobstructed row-crop visibility. This large tractor
operates as nimbly as some of our smaller machines!"
The new tractors are also GreenStar™ system-ready and they
are pre-wired to allow easy hook-up of all GreenStar
components. AutoTrac assisted steering is also available for
The new 9620/9620T tractors offer operators state-of-the-art
controls, efficient tractor performance, and rugged
durability for all field conditions.
